Weekend rollover in Naramata under investigation
PENTICTON – RCMP continue to investigate a rollover in Naramata on the weekend.
Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says police responded to the crash at around 11:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, in the 5700 block of North Naramata Road.
He says a green Mercury Cougar was found upside down in the middle of the road after having left the road, climbed an embankment and rolled back down.
The car's owner — who was very intoxicated — was found in a nearby ditch with a cut to his hand.
Wrigglesworth says the man claimed to have been sitting in the back seat. He told police a man and a woman were in the front seats, but he didn't know who was driving, adding they "just walked away" from the scene of the crash.
Blood was found on the driver’s side of the car. The injured man was transported to hospital for examination.
Witnesses who were camping nearby arrived on scene within 15 minutes did not see anyone other than the vehicle's owner, Wrigglesworth says.
Police conducted a search for the other two people but found no evidence of them.
