Weekend Drake concerts in Vancouver prompt police warning about online tickets

Vancouver Police have issued a warning to anyone hoping to score tickets to two Drake concerts this weekend at Rogers Arena.

Acting Sgt. Brian Montague has issued a news release reminding fans of the hip hop artist that anyone searching Craigslist for tickets to the Saturday or Sunday shows will likely be disappointed.

Montague says police receive reports of fake or fraudulently purchased tickets every time an event is held in the city and he's expecting the nearly sold-out Drake concert will not be an exception.

He says victims buying tickets online have no idea they have been caught in a scam, until they are refused entry at the door.

Montague adds Vancouver police regularly catch criminals involved in such frauds, but says in many cases victims are left without their cash and unable to attend a much-anticipated event.

The Ticketmaster website lists some tickets for the Saturday and Sunday Drake concerts still available for resale on its verified fan-to-fan site, with prices starting at $125 and climbing to nearly $1,200 for one seat on the floor.
