Toronto Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson voted top major leaguer of 2015 by his peers

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson was voted major league player of the year and AL outstanding player in the annual Players Choice Awards, and Washington slugger Bryce Harper was picked as the NL outstanding player.

Baltimore outfielder Adam Jones won the Marvin Miller man of the year award, given to a player who most inspires others through his efforts on and off the field. Jones hosted a clinic for inner city youth after unrest in Baltimore this year and assists the James Mosher Little League, the YMCA of Central Maryland, the Boys and Girls Club of Baltimore and Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities.

Houston ace Dallas Keuchel was voted the AL’s outstanding pitcher, and Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke the NL’s outstanding pitcher. Astros shortstop Carlos Correa and Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant were the top rookies, while Texas slugger Prince Fielder and New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey were the top comeback players.

Balloting was conducted in mid-September by the Major League Baseball Players Association and winners were announced Monday. The awards began in 1992.
