Penticton firefighters quickly put out basement fire
PENTICTON – Firefighters extinguished a basement fire in Penticton before it could do major damage yesterday.
Deputy Fire Chief Dave Spalding says firefighters responded to a Kinney Avenue address around 10:38 a.m. Sunday Sept. 18 after being notified of a structure fire.
Crews arrived at the scene to find nothing visible, but after inspecting the premises found a small amount of smoke emanating from the basement.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly, which was contained to the basement ceiling.
No injuries were reported in the fire, which caused minimal smoke damage. The building’s residents were not displaced by the fire.
