The Latest: Derrick Rose defence picks at accuser testimony

LOS ANGELES – The Latest on the trial of a lawsuit claiming NBA star Derrick Rose and two other men raped a woman (all times local):

A defence lawyer has picked away at the testimony of a woman accusing NBA star Derrick Rose and two of his friends of raping her while she was incapacitated.

Rose’s lawyer used text messages Thursday at the trial of the woman’s $21.5 million lawsuit to create a timeline that raised questions about whether she was actually lucid after several drinks or had blacked out as she claims.

The woman testified that she only remembers “flashes” after drinking vodka, wine and then downing tequila shots at Rose’s Beverly Hills mansion in August 2013.

Attorney Mark Baute showed her a string of text messages hours later inviting Rose to come to her apartment. He says she even used punctuation and wrote in sentences.

The woman recalled little of the texting.

The woman accusing NBA star Derrick Rose and two of his friends of rape is testifying in the trial of her $21.5 million civil lawsuit.

The woman told jurors in Los Angeles federal court Thursday that she had wanted to remain anonymous because she didn’t want her family to know about it.

As she was testifying, Rose entered the courtroom for the first time and she paused and became emotional while being questioned by her attorney about the events on a night in August 2013.

She says she went to Rose’s rented Beverly Hills mansion for drinks, got very drunk and felt like she had been drugged.

She says that when she got home she vomited and passed out.

Her lawsuit claims the men came to her apartment and gang-raped her.
