Movie featuring actors from Flashdance and 50 Shades of Gray to be filmed in the Okanagan

OKANAGAN – A production starring actors from Flashdance and 50 Shades of Gray will begin shooting next month in the Okanagan Valley.

Filming of Sepia Films' Wrecking Ball also known as A Wife’s Nightmare begins Sept. 8 in the region.

The T.V. movie stars Jennifer Beals, known best for her roles in Flashdance, The Book of Eli, and The L Word and alongside her Dylan Neale, featured in Arrow, Cedar Cove and the upcoming 50 Shades of Gray. Other actors include Spencer List (American Viral, ICarly, CSI Miami) and Katharine McNamara (Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, CSI and Workaholics.)

The movie is about a woman named Liz who has just returned home after a mental breakdown. She is forced to welcome a stranger into her home when Caitlin, a young, vivacious woman, claims to be her husband's daughter. The family loves Caitlin, but Liz can't trust her, and this time she's not being paranoid.

Okanagan Film Commissioner Jon Summerland says the production is indicative of the industry’s continuing growth in the Okanagan.

“We are doing things right when production companies are returning year after year with multiple productions,” Summerand said in a press release. “During the spring and summer we have been very busy with more projects in various stages of development than ever before which is creating continued industry growth in this area;  and animation in the region, as always, is  growing steadily.”

The film will be directed by Vic Sarin, a celebrated Canadian filmmaker, director, cinematographer and writer.  The movie is being produced by Tina Pehme and Kim Roberts and executive produced by Meyer Shwarzstein and Larry Gershman for A&E International, Lifetime and Corus Networks.
