Kamloops’s head of bylaw no longer with city

KAMLOOPS – The bylaw manager in Kamloops is no longer with the city.

CAO David Trawin confirms Jon Wilson is no longer the city’s Community Safety and Enforcement manager.

“His last day with the city was last Friday,” Trawin says. “He was with the city around 10 years.”

Trawin would not comment on why Wilson is no longer working for the city or if it was an amicable departure, citing city policy.

“It’s just a policy of ours not to discuss that,” he says.

Bylaw supervisor John Ramsay will be taking over Wilson’s position as an acting manager.

A planned review of the bylaw division started before Wilson’s departure and is ongoing. Trawin would not comment on whether it was connected, but says the review does include some money for increased patrols downtown and consultations.

Wilson’s position may not be filled any time soon, because the city reviews every management position that is vacated to see if it needs a replacement or if things can be done within the city’s human resource structure more efficiently.
