Texas Rangers’ Banister and Chicago Cubs’ Maddon win manager of year awards

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Joe Maddon of the Chicago Cubs is the winner of the National League manager of the year award.

He finished well ahead of St. Louis Cardinals skipper Mike Matheny in the voting.

Earlier, Texas Rangers skipper Jeff Banister was named American League manager of the year.

Banister led the Rangers to a division title in his first season on the job.

Houston’s A.J. Hinch was second.
