B.C. Green Party names candidate in Kamloops-North Thompson

KAMLOOPS – The B.C. Green Party candidate in Kamloops-North Thompson has been acclaimed.

Dan Hines will run for the Greens in the provincial election next spring along with city councillor Donovan Cavers who was acclaimed by the party in Kamloops-South Thompson earlier this month.

In a media release today, Sept. 29, Hines outlined some initiatives on the Green provincial platform including the promise to ban corporate and union donations to provincial political parties, the plan to develop a new relationship with First Nations, address climate change and put plans in place "for the thoughtful transition towards a stronger 21st century economy."

“I’m glad to be part of this movement for change and for new leadership," Hines says in the release. "It is clearly evident that a wave of Green support and activism is growing.”

Hines, who was born and raised in Kamloops, is a founding member of the RareBirds Housing Co-operative and has a background of small business ownership, contracting, management, university instruction and time as an Anglican priest in Kamloops and area, the release states.
