KELOWNA – On the same day it was declared Kelowna has the highest crime rate in Canada – partly due to an increase in property crime – two Rutland businesses reported break and enters just minutes apart from each other.
The Berezan Liquor Store and My Neighborhood Restaurant located on Roxby Road reported the incidents around 2 a.m. yesterday morning.
Police say they were targetted by thieves who managed to break into one location and attempted to enter the other. Unfortunately there were few witnesses in the area given the early time of day.
One witness spotted two male passengers in a four door Buick fleeing the area.
RCMP are asking anyone with information or who saw suspicious vehicles in the area around that time contact them or call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), go to www.crimestoppers.net or text to CRIMES (274637).
