Vernon celebrates international walk-to-school month in October

VERNON – The City of Vernon will be celebrating International Walk to School Month (i-Walk) in October.

During i-Walk Month, the City is partnering with three elementary schools: Ellison on Wednesday, October 12; Harwood on Thursday, October 13; and Alexis Park on Friday, October 14. Celebration stations will be set up from 7:45 a.m. until the bell rings for all students who walk, bike, skate, scooter or take the school bus.

These students will enjoy free refreshments at the school’s celebration station and qualify for a chance to win prizes.

If your school would like to join in the fun or learn how to start a Walking School Bus program, please call 250-550-3634.
