Downtown carnival caters to kids
KAMLOOPS – Day three of the annual downtown Merchants Market has brought the United Way Community Carnival to the 300-block of Victoria Street Friday.
Games, crafts and plenty of entertainment filled the street while the sidewalk sale continued in front of many downtown shops. A bouncy castle, sidewalk chalk creations, paintings and many games involving water were among the couple dozen things for kids to do while downtown.
Many of the entertainers, including Clinton W. Gray and Uncle Chris the Clown, were set up on a shaded corner with lots of room for families to stop and rest out of the sun while they enjoyed the performance.
The Merchants Market began Wednesday with an expanded farmers' market and yesterday brought the Taste of the Town to two dozen different downtown restaurants. The market will continue tomorrow with a Buskers' Showdown and the final day of the sidewalk sale. The 200-block of Victoria Street will be shutdown to accomodate both entertainment and sales. Street performers and musicians will be set up at several locations along Victoria Street throughout the day.
