Former Blazers heading to B.C. Hall of Fame

KAMLOOPS – Former Blazer and current Blazer co-owner Mark Recchi will be inducted to the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame tonight alongside the 1993-94 and 1994-95 Memorial Cup winning teams.

Recchi had a National Hockey League career that spanned 22 seasons and three Stanley Cup wins with three different teams. He also played for Team Canada in the 1998 Olympics and was named to seven NHL All-Star games. The Kamloops native retired in 2011 after winning the Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins.

Many former Blazers from the two Memorial Cup winning teams have gone on to success in the hockey world as professional players, coaches and TV analysts.

"This is quite the honour for the franchise to see the 1994 and 1995 Memorial Cup teams get recognized by the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame," commented Vice President / General Manager and former player Craig Bonner. "The Blazers have such a rich history and we are very proud of the past successes of this franchise."

The Hall of Fame gala will take place in Penticton tonight.
