Average home in Kamloops is worth $30,000 more than last year

KAMLOOPS – September continued the real estate hot streak in Kamloops with nearly $100 million worth of homes were sold, almost $17 million more than a year previous, or a 21 per cent increase.

More homes are being sold and the price of those homes going up.

In September, 33 homes were sold and the average price of those homes has increased by $33,500 from the same month last year, according to statistics from the Kamloops and District Real Estate Association. The average house price is also up about $500 compared to August 2016.

During the same month Vancouver recorded a decrease in home sales compared to the same period last year.

Non-residential real estate sales, which include empty lots or businesses, are also up. While the value is significantly less than residential sales, non-residential sales are up almost double for the month — from $6.6 million in September 2015 to $11.9 million in September 2016. Year-to-date sales have gone from $42 million year-to-date in 2015 to $80 million so far in 2016.
