Parked cars struck in Penticton by suspected drunk driver
PENTICTON – RCMP officers who stopped a driver after he smashed into parked cars in Penticton on Saturday found an open bottle of vodka in the vehcile.
Penticton RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says the driver had struck two vehicles on Winnipeg Street Saturday evening, Oct. 1, and had been observed driving into oncoming traffic before hitting a parked Jeep Cherokee on Westminster Avenue.
When officers pulled over the suspect vehicle, they found the open bottle of vodka and the driver had a blood alcohol content three times the legal limit, he says. The driver also has a Canada wide driving prohibition.
Wrigglesworth says the driver was jailed and subsequently released on a promise to appear on numerous charges of impaired driving.
