Charges laid against woman who threatened foster mom outside of Kamloops school

KAMLOOPS – A Kamloops woman has been charged after allegedly threatening a foster mom outside Kamloops Christian School this week.

Jacqueline Marie Wiersema, 44, has been charged with assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, according to court documents.

Police were called to the North Shore school just before 9 a.m. Oct. 4. A foster mom was dropping off two students when the childrens' biological mother showed up and tried to take the children.

When the foster mother protested, police said the biological mother pulled out a knife and threatened her. Wiersema allegedly fled when another parent came out to help the foster mom.

Wiersema left in her vehicle without the children.

Police didn't know where she was, so the school went into lockdown until they found her at her home and arrested her without incident.

Wiersema is not in custody after being granted bail and is expected to be back in Kamloops Provincial Court on Oct. 27.
