Child safety initiative gives car seats to kids in need
OKANAGAN – The Child Safety Initiative is a unique partnership between the Central Okanagan Foundation, KGH Foundation and United Way Central and South Okanagan/Similkameen investing a total of $15,000 for 84 car seats.
The car seats are ordered at Costco and a cube van is supplied/sponsored by Budget Car and Truck Rental. In total, car seats will be delivered to seven agencies in eight communities as well as the KGH Perinatal unit.
United Way partner agencies in Lake Country, Kelowna, Summerland, Penticton, Oliver, Keremeos and Princeton will receive car seats to distribute to families in their community with most already spoken for. The local agencies assess the needs of applicants and distribute the car seats to individuals most in need.
