WINNIPEG – SirVincent Rogers of the Ottawa Redblacks is the CFL’s top lineman.
Rogers was honoured Thursday at the CFL awards banquet, receiving 58-of-75 first-place ballots in voting by the Football Reporters of Canada.
Jovan Olafioye of the B.C. Lions was the finalist.
Rogers is completing his first season in Ottawa after signing as a free agent. The six-foot-four 319-pound Texan started all 18 regular-season games at left tackle, protecting quarterback Henry Burris’s blind side.
Burris is a finalist for the CFL’s outstanding player award along with Calgary Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell.
Olafioye won the award in 2012 and anchored the Lions’ offensive line that allowed just 34 sacks, one behind league leaders Montreal and Calgary.
