2nd man convicted in beating of black man in Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – A second person has been convicted in the beating of a black man who was left severely injured the day of a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Local media reported Thursday that Alex Ramos of Georgia was found guilty of malicious wounding in the Aug. 12 beating of DeAndre Harris. He could face between five to 20 years in prison.

The attack in a parking garage by a group of men was captured in photos and videos widely shared online.

Prosecutors said Ramos hit Harris in the back of the head and bragged about the attack on Facebook.

His conviction follows that of an Arkansas man earlier this week on the same charge. Two more men have been charged in connection with the attack and are awaiting trial.
