Alcohol likely behind traffic blocking Lake Country crash

KELOWNA – The driver of a Subaru Imprezza that rear-ended a fifth-wheel trailer and held up traffic in Lake Country for hours Wednesday afternoon was impaired, say RCMP.

Const. Kris Clark says the 45-year-old Prince George man crashed into the back of a fifth-wheel on Highway 97 near Beaver Lake Road shortly before 3 p.m. Police at the scene noticed signs of impairment and the driver of the car provided samples four times the legal limit.

Both drivers were taken to Kelowna General Hospital with minor injuries.

The impaired driver was issued an indefinite driving prohibition and faces possible impaired driving charges.

He will appear in court in November.
