Looking for a forever home; Penticton SPCA pet of the week

PENTICTON – Darla is favourite at the Penticton SPCA.

Darla knows lots of tricks like sit, lay down, shake a paw and, our personal favourite, sit pretty.

Darla does have some skin sensitivities and we have switched her diet to a hypoallergenic diet and her coat is starting to gleam.

When Darla is out on a walk she does try to get to her destination as fast as possible even if she doesn't yet know where that might be. SPCA staff recommends walking her on a harness to help with pulling. She has been working on her leash manners and with consistent positive reward training she will do even better.

Darla spends most of her time socializing with the staff and volunteers however when no one is around she may have separation anxiety, so a home where people are often around or she can be adjusted slowly to being left alone may be best.

Darla is not suitable for a home with cats or small dogs. She has some dog reactivity, but has been introduced to larger dogs during her stay here and done very well.

Darla's Animal ID is 371453.

Visit the South Okanagan Branch webpage for more information such as location, adoption fees, and hours of operation.
