Power pole fire leaves Ross Road residents without electricity

KELOWNA – A power pole fire in West Kelowna has forced B.C. Hydro to shut off electricity to several homes in the Ross Road area.

West Kelowna Fire Rescue were called to the intersection of Ross Road and Stevens Road Thursday at around 12:30 p.m. with reports of a fire at the top of a pole.

B.C. Hydro had to shut off power in order to extinguish the flames.

Assistant Fire Chief Darren Lee says power will not be turned back on until repairs are complete.
