Thunder star Westbrook adds to imprint on fashion world with California-themed sunglasses

OKLAHOMA CITY – Russell Westbrook has added a California connection to his eyewear company.

The Oklahoma City Thunder star added 15 sunglasses frames to his collection with some named for locations tied to his California roots — Compton, Venice, Gardena, Bel Air and Calabasas.

Westbrook co-owns Westbrook Frames with Marc Beckman. The frames were designed by the NBA star and Selima Salaun, the founder of Selima Optique.

The new line is the first update for the company since the summer, when it collaborated with the NBA for a series of team frames.

Westbrook has become increasingly involved in the fashion industry. He also has launched a Westbrook XO Barneys New York Spring 2015 Collection, and is a partner in True Religion, LVMH/Zenith Watches, Kings and Jaxs and Jordan Brand.

Last summer, he attended Paris Fashion Week and offered a preview of his Jordan Westbrook 0 sneakers. He also launched a cologne designed in collaboration with Stockholm-based Byredo.
