Mike Birbiglia will have a new 1-man show this winter, ‘Thank God For Jokes’

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Mike Birbiglia, a stand-up comedian and off-Broadway star, will tackle something he knows a lot about in his new one-man show — joke-telling.

In “Mike Birbiglia: Thank God For Jokes,” the performer tackles “the minefield that is modern-day joke-telling.” It plays the Lynn Redgrave Theater in lower Manhattan beginning Feb. 2. Seth Barrish directs.

Birbiglia’s other shows include “Sleepwalk with Me,” about the time he sleepwalked out a second-story window. In “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend,” he tells how he was nearly killed in a car accident when a drunk driver rammed him. That play was the basis of his memoir, “Sleepwalk with Me.”

Birbiglia, who has multiple albums and TV specials, also has made appearances on public radio’s “This American Life” and the storytelling organization the Moth.
