DALLAS – The Dallas Museum of Art has appointed a new director.
The museum announced Thursday the appointment of Agustin Arteaga, who currently serves as the director of the Museo Nacional de Arte in Mexico City. He will assume his new role at the Dallas museum on Sept. 1.
Before working at the museum in Mexico City, Arteaga was director of the Museo de Arte de Ponce in Puerto Rico and also was the founding director of a contemporary art museum in Argentina.
Catherine Marcus Rose, president of the Dallas museum’s board of trustees, calls Arteaga a “forward-thinking and strategic director” with a track record of leading museums on a “global level” and attracting new audiences and support.
