Nicki Minaj’s brother arrested on child rape charges; authorities say victim was under 13
MINEOLA, N.Y. – Nicki Minaj’s older brother has been arrested on child rape charges in suburban New York.
A Nassau County court official says Jelani Maraj was arraigned Thursday in a Long Island hospital on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual conduct against a child. It was not immediately clear if he entered a plea.
Bail was set at $100,000. Maraj’s attorney did not return repeated telephone calls seeking comment on Friday.
Court documents allege the victim was younger than 13. The court papers allege Maraj had engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim for at least three months.
A spokesman for the district attorney’s office declined to comment on the allegations.
A representative for the hip-hop superstar did not immediately comment.
