Residential and commercial break-ins continue in Penticton

PENTICTON – Police answered calls to a variety of commercial and residential break and enters in Penticton last week.

Police spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says a break and enter was reported to a Roy Avenue residence on Oct. 18. The break-in is believed to have taken place between 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Jewellery and a laptop worth several thousand dollars were taken.

A vehicle parked on the 600 block of Lakeshore Drive was broken into by smashing a window the same evening. Thieves made off with a GoPro camera, and air compressor and a bike frame.

Also on Oct. 18, a $400 baby stroller was taken from a Kilwinning Avenue residence.

On Oct. 14 police were called to a Paterson Road and Hayman Road residence at 8:30 a.m. on a report of a Coleman Home Construction Ltd. dump trailer (B.C. license 869 83D) stolen.  The unit was full of garbage and construction planks, and had a total value of $20,000.

The fenced compound at Integra Tire on Rosetown Avenue was breached sometime during the night Oct. 13.

Police are aware of two suspects involved who loaded used tires, wheels and old radiators into a customer’s blue lifted, 1987 K-25 regular cab pickup with 35 inch tires, B.C. license 866 1HF. The incident remains under investigation.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.

As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
