Bombardier replaces head of transportation division with internal executive

MONTREAL – The executive overhaul at Bombardier has resulted in the replacement of the head of its Berlin-based transportation division.

The Montreal-based aerospace and railway manufacturer announced Wednesday that Lutz Bertling, 53, has resigned after more than two years to pursue other career opportunities. Bertling oversaw the streamlining of operations by reducing layers of managers.

He is being replaced immediately by Laurent Troger, who has been with Bombardier for 11 years and was recently promoted to chief operating officer.

Troger, 52, previously worked for 15 years at Alstom Transport and prior to that at Sagem as a telecoms engineer.

“As we accelerate our transformation, Laurent has both the leadership and the experience to deliver on our commitments to customers, while increasing profitability at transportation,” said Bombardier president and CEO Alain Bellemare.

Since taking the helm of Bombardier earlier this year, Bellemare has made a string of executive changes in the company’s aerospace division.

Bombardier (TSX:BBD.B) is awaiting certification from Transport Canada for its CSeries commercial jet that is set to enter into service by mid-2016.
