OTTAWA – The top 10 voter-getters in the Royal Canadian Geographic Society’s online survey seeking nominations for Canada’s national bird. The list has now been narrowed to the top five:
Common loon — 13,995 votes
Snowy owl — 8,948
Gray jay or whiskey jack — 7,918
Canada goose — 3,616
Black-capped chickadee — 3,324
Common raven — 1,680
Blue jay — 1,037
Atlantic puffin — 764
Great blue heron — 617
