First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Up 25 cents, or 6.61 per cent, to $4.03 on 10.7 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Down 26 cents, or 3.43 per cent, to $7.31 on 9.1 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up six cents, or 4.05 per cent, to $1.54 on eight million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 11 cents, or 4.31 per cent, to $2.66 on 7.9 million shares.

Goldcorp Inc. (TSX:G). Miner. Up $1.11, or 7.29 per cent, to $16.34 on 6.7 million shares.

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Up 76 cents, or 7.78 per cent, to $10.53 on 6.7 million shares.

Canadian Pacific Railway (TSX:CP). Transportation. Up $5.45, or 3.18 per cent, to $177.08 on 470,959 shares. Canadian Pacific Railway’s chief executive says he’s not averse to a bare-knuckle takeover brawl as the company enhanced its bid for Virginia-based Norfolk Southern with a variable payment that could add an addition $3.4 billion in payouts.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. (TSX:VRX). Drugs, health-care products. Up $13.82, or 9.23 per cent, to $163.57 on 1.2 million shares. Valeantsays it’s on the road to recovery after taking big financial and PR hits from its association with a controversial U.S. mail-order pharmacy. The Quebec-based company expects revenues and adjusted earnings will increase by double digits in 2016 and its battered share price will once again reflect the fundamentals of its business.
