North Okanagan home destroyed by fire

VERNON – Fire gutted a home in the rural Fintry area early Monday morning.

North Westside Fire Rescue responded to the fire on Pinecrest Road in Westshore Estates at about 9 a.m.

Flames were shooting through the roof when crews arrived at the home off Westside Road, according to Global Okanagan.

No official word on the cause of the fire, but a neighbour told Global a man ran from the house crying “fire” confessed he had been cooking marijuana oil.

The RCMP are looking into the blaze along with fire investigators.
