Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (14,064.54, up 27.80 points):

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Down 19 cents, or 2.91 per cent, to $6.34 on 12.7 million shares.

Lithium Americas Corp. (TSX:LAC). Miner. Up 10 cents, or 10.10 per cent, to $1.09 on nine million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down seven cents, or 1.03 per cent, to $6.72 on 8.7 million shares.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Down 17 cents, or 1.84 per cent, to $9.07 on 8.1 million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Down 14 cents, or 1.83 per cent, to $7.50 on 7.9 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Down one cent, or 0.51 per cent, to $1.94 on 6.7 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Laurentian Bank of Canada (TSX:LB). Bank. Down $1.31, or 2.64 per cent, to $48.24 on 607,843 shares. Laurentian said it has reached an agreement with New York-based CIT Group Inc. to acquire its Canadian equipment financing and corporate financing activities. The Montreal-based bank didn’t announce the full purchase price but did say it would pay for part of the acquisition through a $135-million financing, announced separately.
