Chilliwack man dead in dump truck crash on Highway 3 in Manning Park

PRINCETON – A man who was driving a commercial truck was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on the Hope-Princeton highway yesterday.

RCMP say the crash happened just before 9 a.m., Nov. 3, on Highway 3 in Manning Park about one kilometre west of the Cambie Creek Bridge brake check area in the Allison Pass.

A grey 2007 Western Star dump truck was travelling westbound when it left the road and crashed into an embankment, according to a RCMP media release.

The driver, a 67-year-old man from Chilliwack, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The crash occurred in an area where the roadway was straight, flat, with slippery and frosty surface conditions and temperatures near the freezing mark," Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says in the release.

The highway was closed for several hours.

South Okanagan Traffic Services and the B.C. Coroners Services are investigating the cause of the crash.
