Police dogs deployed in Royal Inland Hospital lockdown

KAMLOOPS – A report of a man with a weapon caused the lockdown of Royal Inland Hospital early this morning and police are searching for the suspect who is responsible.

Staff Sgt. Edward Preto says in a release that police responded to a call at the hospital at 1:41 a.m. today, Nov. 6.

Preto says a man ran into the emergency department saying he was being chased by another man who had a weapon.

The hospital entered lockdown and police responded with the canine unit. Witnesses report seeing a suspect matching the description the man gave police, but they say he left the scene before police arrived. 

"The victim is well known to us and was not injured in this incident," Preto says.

Police investigation is ongoing.
