The Kamloops Long Blades Speed Skating Club hosted the Classic Chill Challenge this past Saturday at the McArthur Island Sport Centre. 85 skaters from 10 clubs from as far away as Nelson and Prince George took part.
The Long Blades were the winners of the Phyllis Vyse Memorial trophy for top points, finishing with 615 ahead of Salmon Arm with 355 and Kelowna with 290.
Many personal best times were set by our skaters.
16 of the 27 long blades had 3 to 4 personal bests: Lucy Wiltshire, Anisha Litt, Myles Prochotsky, Caleb Van der Merwe, Nelson Smith, Evan Columbus, Jordan Smith, Meena Litt, Keidis Corrigan, Jared Roberts, Keaton Birkenhead, Adam Turner, Patrick Gu, Dawson Doern, Vladimir Demishkevich, and Cameron Thomas.
Taien Chard and Rebecca Thomas had pbs in all 5 distances.
