Vanderhoof man, Vancouver woman killed in separate B.C. collisions
VANCOUVER – Mounties in two central B.C. communities are investigating separate, deadly crashes that occurred within hours of each other.
Vanderhoof RCMP say a minivan and an unloaded logging truck collided just west of the community shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The 65-year-old Vanderhoof man driving the minivan died at the scene.
Less than three hours later, RCMP in 100 Mile House responded to a two vehicle crash on Highway 97 just south of that Cariboo community.
A 68-year-old Vancouver woman died and the drivers of the southbound minivan and northbound SUV were hurt when the minivan made a U-turn in front of the oncoming SUV.
Investigators say names will not be released in either crash and while the causes remain under investigation, alcohol has been ruled out in both accidents and speed did not play a part in the collision near 100 Mile House.
