Charges confirmed against adults in disturbing attack on two Prince George teens

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Prince George RCMP have identified two adults charged in a disturbing aggravated sexual assault case in that north-central B.C. city.

Const. Craig Douglass says 18-year-old Hayden Lee Atwood and 20-year-old Mercedes Rae Jewett have been charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm and two counts of unlawful confinement.

Jewett is set to appear in a Prince George courtroom today, while Atwood will appear Jan. 16, along with four juveniles who face the same charges.

The youths, who can’t be named, include two 15-year-olds —one of them a girl — and two 17-year-old boys.

The six were arrested earlier this week after a severely injured teenaged boy was found unconscious in a Prince George snowbank.

Further investigation revealed a second teenaged boy who had also been assaulted, but not sexually molested, in what Mounties say were targeted attacks on the young victims.
