Fatal truck crash in Surrey closes westbound Highway 1 to start morning rush
SURREY, B.C. – One person has died in a fiery crash on Highway 1 just east of Vancouver.
Surrey RCMP say the crash occurred just after 3 a.m.
A commercial truck hit the median along the westbound lanes of the highway.
The impact demolished the big rig, which also burst into flames.
All westbound traffic is being diverted off the busy commuter route until further notice.
A cause of the crash is under investigation.
