Driver slams into propane tank at Vernon gas station

VERNON – Emergency crews were called out Wednesday afternoon after a man drove into a propane tank at Super Save Gas on 25 Avenue.

Cpl. Joseph Leeson with Vernon RCMP says the driver lost control and slammed into the propane tank around 1:30 p.m. after suffering an apparent medical condition.

The 57-year-old was the only occupant in the SUV and no bystanders in the area were injured.

The driver was taken to hospital for treatment of minor head injuries and his medical condition.

Vernon Fire and Rescue attended the scene and ensured the gas was shut off immediately.

Police continue to investigate the incident, though Leeson says charges are unlikely.
