VERNON – There's lots to do this B.C. Day long weekend, especially if you don't mind getting a little wet.

Environment Canada is calling for clouds and showers over the next few days, with a risk of thunderstorm Friday and Saturday. The sun is predicted to come out in full force Monday, giving vacationers a bright send off into the looming work week.

Weekenders may want to check out Caravan Farm Theatre's summer production Head Over Heels, playing nightly except for Mondays. Just remember to bring a raincoat and a pair of gumboots.

The two-day O'Keefe Cowboy Summer Festival will be galloping out the starting gates Saturday, featuring a ranch rodeo, live music, and barn dance.

On Saturday, the Kalamalka Highlanders Pipe Band Society will be unveiling the first Okanagan Tattoo, which will bring together pipe bands, drill teams, dance groups, drummers, singers, RCMP and first responder teams for a two-hour continual show of entertainment. Tickets can be purchased through Ticket Seller.

Farmers markets will be in full swing, no matter what the weather. Shoppers have the choice of the Friday night market in the Village Green mall parking lot, the Armstrong Farmers market on Saturday, the Mosaic Market at Westshore Estates Community Park (also on Saturday, the Caravan Market Days at the Caravan farm in Armstrong (on Sunday) and the B.C. Day market at Kal Tire Place on Monday.

Routes and Blues also kicks off this weekend, with a variety of shows in communities across the North Okanagan and Shuswap.

While out and about enjoying the sites and sounds of the Okanagan this weekend,  remember, when thunder roars, go indoors. Campers are reminded there is a campfire ban in effect.
