UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – Gwen Stefani says she and her fellow “The Voice” coaches are shocked and horrified by the death of season six contestant Christina Grimmie.
“Everybody, you know, is shaken,” Stefani said during an interview Monday when asked about Grimmie’s death. “It’s just a shock and …it makes me feel totally vulnerable.”
Grimmie, a 22-year-old singer and YouTube star from New Jersey, was killed last week as she signed autographs after a show in Orlando. Authorities say she apparently had no personal connection to the man who shot her and then fatally shot himself.
Stefani, 46, was a coach on two seasons of “The Voice,” but did not appear on the NBC competition series when Grimmie placed third in 2014.
“Everybody is just horrified,” Stefani said.
The singer’s “This is What the Truth Feels Like Tour” kicks off July 12 in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
