Fire department quickly extinguishes blaze

KELOWNA – Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a small fire on Autumn Road this morning after they put out a small fire confined to the basement last night.

Platoon Capt. Dennis Miller says they got the call shortly after 10 p.m. of a roof on fire. But on arrival, they found the fire was in the basement and they extinguished it before it spread.

Three engines, one rescue vehicle, one command vehicle and a safety officer responded to the scene with ambulance and police.

Miller reminds residents to check their smoke alarms.
