Lions quarterback decides to stay in CFL rather than pursue NFL options

VANCOUVER – Quarterback Travis Lulay has signed a new contract with the B.C. Lions.

The team announced the deal at a morning news conference at a downtown Vancouver hotel.

Lulay agreed to a three-year pact that takes effect immediately. The deal includes two years plus an option.

The Oregon native had put a long-term deal on hold last year in case he wanted to pursue NFL options. However, he decided to stick with B.C. after guiding the Lions to a 13-5 record in the regular season.

B.C. lost the Western Final to the Calgary Stampeders.

In 2011, Lulay guided the Lions to a Grey Cup title and was named the CFL’s most outstanding player as well as the MVP in the championship game.
