Dancing, sweating, singing this long weekend
PENTICTON – Children will be climbing up the wall, not driving their parents up the wall, at Gyro Park this Sunday.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. there will be live entertainment at Gyro Park at the north end of Main Street with radio host James Hogan kicking things off after the opening ceremonies. Jake Evans will put on an urban dance event at 11:45 a.m. followed by the Bahiti Belly Dance group at 12:30 a.m.
From 1 to 2:10 p.m. it will be live music from Nikita and the Bluffs and then Oceans and Lights. Get Bent Belly Dance will circle their hips in the air at 2:50 p.m. with the rock group Fluxx finishing things off.
Children can burn calories at a bouncy castle and a climbing wall on site at the park and take hip hop dance lessons and get temporarily inked (tattoos).
Sunday will be a little like the Saturday market with food vendors and artisans selling their wares.
Jackson has sold about 60 million albums and topped the country singles charts 35 times. He will be performing his audience's favorite hits of the past as well as songs from his new album Thirty Miles West.
Tickets are $40, $69.50, $79.50 and $92.00 plus additional taxes and service fees. Tickets can be purchased in-person at the Valley First Box Office and the Wine Country Visitor Centre.
Stage 1 is on Saturday with a 10-kilometre swim starting in Penticton and ending in Okanagan Falls. Then a 144.8 km bike ride from Okanagan Falls over the Richter Pass before heading back to OK Falls.
On Sunday a 275.5 km bike ride from Penticton to Princeton. And on Monday a 84.3 km double-marathon from Princeton to Summerland.
