Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo to get start against Edmonton Oilers

VANCOUVER – Vancouver head coach Alain Vigneault announced that Roberto Luongo will get the start when the Canucks host the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday night.

The Canucks are coming of an embarrassing 7-3 home loss to Anaheim in their season-opener Saturday, with Vancouver starter Cory Schneider getting pulled in favour of Luongo after allowing five goals on 14 shots.

Luongo allowed two goals on 12 shots — both by Teemu Selanne — that gave the Ducks 6-2 and 7-3 leads.

Luongo, the Canucks’ former No. 1, is on the trading block after being displaced by Schneider in last spring’s playoffs.
