Looking for a forever home; Vernon SPCA pet of the week

VERNON – Diesel was brought to the SPCA from dog control. Diesel tends to be nervous of new people at first and does take some time to warm up.

Gentle words and a few delicious treats will usually do the trick. Once he knows and trusts you he becomes a loyal companion.

Potential adopters will need to be familiar with the needs and traits of his breed prior to adoption. A Maremma sheepdog is a flock guardian. They tend to be happiest when watching over a flock or having a job to do.

Diesel is looking for a family with a minimum of one fully fenced acre. He will need to be the only canine on the property as he is unsure about other dogs; especially the little ones.

He will require a home with no children as loud noises and quick movements frighten him.

Diesel is just learning to be walked on leash and has almost mastered it. He will need a little more training with this area.

Diesel's Animal ID is 418652.

Visit the Vernon Branch webpage for more information such as location, adoption fees, and hours of operation.
