Pittsburgh’s role players have Penguins off to quick start heading into home opener

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Pittsburgh Penguins are off to a perfect 2-0 start even with stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin still looking for their first goals of the season.

Pittsburgh can improve to 3-0 for the first time in 18 years on Wednesday night in the home opener against Toronto. The Penguins are getting contributions from all over. Forward James Neal already has three goals and embattled defenceman Paul Martin had a goal in two assists in road wins over Philadelphia and the New York Rangers to start the season.

Though Malkin hasn’t scored, he does have four assists while Crosby has one helper so far.

The Penguins will give fans vouchers for free food and all team merchandise will be half off during the first four games as an apology following the 119-day lockout that ended earlier this month.
