CLEVELAND – Celebrity chef and cookbook author Michael Symon says a fire over the weekend has significantly damaged one of his first restaurants in his hometown of Cleveland.
The host of ABC’s “The Chew” says he’s glad no one was hurt in Sunday’s fire. Investigators think it started near an oven and don’t suspect it was arson.
Cleveland’s fire department says the fire at Lolita started on the first floor and destroyed offices upstairs.
Symon opened his first solo restaurant in the building in 1997 and later converted the space into Lolita.
Symon is the host of several shows on the Food Network and the Cooking Channel. He has an array of award-winning restaurants in Cleveland and Detroit.
