OTTAWA – A look at the resettlement of Syrian refugees in Canada, by the numbers:
25,000: number, in March 2015, of Syrian refugees the Liberal party said the government should resettle.
25,000: number of government-assisted Syrian refugees the Liberals committed to resettling themselves in the 2015 campaign platform.
10,000: number of privately sponsored Syrian refugees the Liberal government said in November it would aim to resettle by the end of 2015.
4,201: number of privately sponsored Syrians who arrived in Canada between Nov. 4, 2015, and Jan. 11, 2016.
15,000: number of government-assisted refugees the Liberals are aiming to resettle by the end of February.
4,775: number of government-assisted refugees who arrived in Canada between Nov. 4, 2015, and Jan. 11, 2016.
617: number of those who are blended-visa office-referred refugees, meaning their settlement costs are shared between private groups and the government.
8,013:number of Syrian refugees resettled in Canada, in total, during all of 2015.
9,593: total number of Syrian refugees resettled in Canada between Nov. 4, 2015, and Jan. 11, 2016.
620: number of Syrians scheduled to land in Canada on Jan. 12, 2015.
5,444: number of Syrians who have been approved for settlement in Canada but who have not yet travelled.
10,000: additional number of government-assisted Syrian refugees the Liberals say they will bring to Canada by the end of 2016.
