‘Cake Boss’ star’s restaurant is denied bid for roof sign

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The star of TLC’s “Cake Boss” show is running into a little trouble promoting his new Italian restaurant in Pennsylvania.

The Express-Times reports (http://bit.ly/1J7mqcB ) Buddy Valastro is opening a Buddy V’s this spring at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem. His other one is in Las Vegas.

A casino representative asked the Bethlehem Planning Commission on Thursday for permission to erect a neon sign on the casino’s roof.

But planners denied the request. They say rooftop signs aren’t allowed under city zoning laws and making an exception could set a precedent.

The capital projects manager for the resort says there’s a backup plan. He says a sign would be allowed on the side of the casino.
